Vietnamese firm Long Thanh Golf Club and Residential Estate will invest US$1 billion in a golf course construction project in Laos, an official from the firm told Thanh Nien Daily.
Under a memorandum of understanding recently signed by chairman of the firm’s management board and general director Le Van Kiem, and Vientiane mayor Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune, the project will commence in a 500-hectare area in Vientiane capital next month, said Kiem’s assistant Pham Thanh Minh.
The company will strive to accelerate the project, which includes the construction of a 36-hole golf course, a 5-star hotel, a hospital and a school, so that the golf course’s first 18 holes will be complete by 2010 to commemorate the 450th founding anniversary of Vientiane capital, he said
